Overview
Brinks Global Training Academy South Africa is a new line of business for Brinks Global Services and Brinks SA, offering firearm training in the form of unit standards/courses on:
Legal requirements – Knowledge of the firearms control act 60/2000.
firearm handling/safety skills with live shoots.
creating firearm motivations for licensing.
The Academy is represented by eleven (11) Instructors/Assessors nationally in South Africa. All instructors are fully accredited with authorities to operate. The Academy will be targeting specific client groups such as – Internal staff (Local initially & Globally later) and external client base such as private security companies; Police services (SA& Botswana); Brinks stakeholders; Brinks Sub-Contractors and private individuals.
VISION
We are based in one of the highest crime rate countries in the world and specifically CIT attacks in military format – ambush and bombing of trucks carrying cash.
We experience firsthand from real life attackers their modus operandi on a daily basis by joining in with Police OPS groups, organizations (CITASA), Media groups nationally – using this information to our advantage to plan & train our staff – protecting our assets. In the same way we can use this information in a training academy environment.
Brinks Global Service has a well-established and reputable name worldwide which places the intended Academy already at a higher level in the training Industry.
Combined with firsthand experience of CIT crime daily, well trained Instructors/assessors accredited by the International Firearms Training Academy (ITA) – a training Institute which is globally well known maintaining high standards of work together with our Brinks SA Security Manager who has a background of 18 years’ experience working as a Police Captain using different firearms in crime prevention/search/seizures/riots; Hostile deployment – Afghanistan 2 contracts and a legal background. He is a licensed lawyer (registered non-practicing Advocate) specializing in criminal law & procedures/Forensics -investigations/Labour law/Civil claims.
All of this seen in context – The vision for Brinks Global Training Academy is to be recognized as the best Training Institute in the world.
Brinks Instructors
Brinks Academy consist of 11 Firearm Instructors/Assessors nationally, accredited with ITA (International Firearm Training Academy Krugersdorp South Africa) and PFTC (Professional Firearm Training Council South Africa). These Instructors are deployed daily with Brinks armoured groups as tactical support and utilized for training on a rotation basis. All Instructors undergo compulsory scheduled training with trainers from Ex-Police Special Task Force & Mark Human tri-annually to maintain standards. Many Instructors are qualified in Tactical Unit Standards and some have served in the South African Police Services for many years. The responsible person & manager of the Academy is an admitted legal practitioner to the High Court of SA Cape Town.
Services
The Academy provides training on – Private & Business unit standards in Handgun, Shotgun, Self-loading rifle or carbine (SLR) and Manually operated rifle or carbine (MOR); armoured vehicle deployment & convoy movements; defensive driving techniques towards a suspicious vehicle; various attack simulations with IAD (Immediate Action Drills); de-bust from vehicles and live fire engagement on targets; fighting in and around vehicles; Medical applications on scene – plug & press – torniquet; Recovery of injured members on scene & removal of shipment parcels; Radio communication – Command & Control that goes with all. As part of all training courses, there is a compulsory exercise fitness program.

Clients are – Government & Law enforcement agencies in SA and Neighbouring Countries (Botswana); Private Security Companies in SA & Neighbouring Countries; Brinks stakeholders and Subcontractors; Brinks local & International staff.
